Italian Dance Manuals: Il Ballarino by Margaret Roe.
Fabritio Caroso published Il Ballarino in 1581 as a manual for Italian dancing. Italian Dance Manuals: Il Ballarino brings these dances into a simplified format for modern recreations. In this book, the choreographies have been translated into modern English and into notation format for easy discernability. The music has been translated from lute tablature into modern sheet music. Additionally, this book has charted the characteristics of these dances, allowing any dancer or teacher to choose new dances based on the steps required, choreographic formations, number of dancers required, number of musical repeats, etc. With Italian Dance Manuals: Il Ballarino, Italian Renaissance dance becomes more available and enjoyable for today's participants.
